The previous summer, Nicky Zimmermann opened a second New York shop in East Hampton, and if Resort is any sign, that spot's tony understanding of shoreline life would appear to be rubbing off on her. This season she presented a considerably breezier tackle the transparent dresses she's assembled her image upon. Printing the vividly stunning plans of Turkish carpets on material loaned a wealthier bohemian twisted to pieces, while a spotted cotton organdy gown was unadulterated flirt down to its foamy ribbon trim. Somewhere else were the Zimmermann trademarks, those wafting outfits with charm to extra shot through with string of gold Lurex (and implicit underwires). Still, if ethereal numbers are Zimmermann's bread and spread (the fashioner herself is a defender of capital-D dressing), then a percentage of the daywear here, similar to silky culottes or organized little moves, presented a convincing defense for her to keep investigating the inventive potential outcome.
